MiM Interviews

First of all, Congratulations! If you’re reading this, then either you have cleared the first round of the selection process, or you’re doing some serious research before your applications (which is a good sign in and of itself).

The interview could be one-on-one or in front of a panel. The location also varies from offices, halls, and even homes!

What happens in the interview?

In short, the interviewer gets to know you as a person, student and a future business school candidate.

This interview is a chance for the business school to see a more personal version of you, distinct from your excessively polished and revised portrayal in the essays. They want to see whether you actually exude that passion and leadership and other qualities that you mentioned in your essays.

Naturally, the interviewer will engage you in conversations revolving around topics that you may have touched upon in your resume/CV and essays as well as your decision to apply for an MiM. Be prepared to answer questions on ‘that’ deceptively small line at the very end of your Resume!

What is the process of the interview?

Unfortunately, that varies depending on your interviewer and business school.

Nonetheless, expect a formal atmosphere and behave courteously. As you enter, you may spot your intended seat where you’ll be ideally directed to sit. Manners! Say thank you and wish your panel well.

This is where, predictions go awry. The interviewers may stick to a questionnaire sent to them, or they may have a conversation with you. In every case, most of the topics, from your hobbies, achievements, college life and business school decision will be touched upon.

At the very end, you’ll be given a chance to ask the interviewers questions you may have. You can prepare a couple of relevant questions or you may respectfully say no, especially if you’ve met a college representative in the past.

What should I wear?

Irrespective of gender, formal attire. Only. Please stick to traditionally accepted colours and dressing styles. Keep the avant-garde pairings in your wardrobe for another day!

Appearance is not nearly as important as what you say as long as it does not get in the way of a meaningful conversation. Keep the colours toned down.

Navy blue, Black are go-to colours. Shirts can be white and sky blue, as long as it pairs properly.

Shoes must be polished and ideally black or brown. Socks in monochrome black, navy blue or dark grey.
